Pro Tools 10 HD Native - what OS for firmware upgrade?
I read about problems with upgrading HD Native firmware. I was going to install Pro Tools 10 HD on Mac OSX Lion. Should I install 10.6.7 first to upgrade the firmware?

Yes. You are only asking for problems if you do it any other way. Save yourself the time and headache and upgrade the firmware using 10.6.7.

Re: Pro Tools 10 HD Native - what OS for firmware upgrade?
In order to update the firmware of HD Native card to v1.03 on Mac OS X, the version of Mac OS X must be 10.6.7 or earlier, and it requires Pro Tools HD 10 or 9.0.5.
However, Pro Tools HD 10 runs on Mac OS X 10.6.7 or later, so 10.6.7 is the only choice to update the firmware of HD Native card to v1.03 with Pro Tools HD 10. If using Pro Tools HD 9.0.5, it runs on any version of 10.6.x and 10.7.x, so you can update the firmware to v1.03 with Pro Tools HD 9.0.5 on Mac OS X 10.6.7 or earlier. I did it last weekend, prepared the disk partition for Mac OS X 10.6, installed Mac OS X 10.6 to new partition, upgraded it to 10.6.5 (this might not be necessary), installed Pro Tools HD 9.0.2, and upgraded it to 9.0.5 just for the firmware update to v1.03. Now, Pro Tools HD 10 is running on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 very well. |

Re: Pro Tools 10 HD Native - what OS for firmware upgrade?
I'm on 10.6.8 at the moment. If I run 10.6.7 Combo Update will it downgrade my system?

Re: Pro Tools 10 HD Native - what OS for firmware upgrade?
If someone runs Lion and they don't have access to 10.6 - what can they do?

Re: Pro Tools 10 HD Native - what OS for firmware upgrade?
The safest thing is to create a new partition and install 10.6.7 there for the firmware update.

Re: Pro Tools 10 HD Native - what OS for firmware upgrade?
I've just built a Westmere 12 core with 10.7.2 and as long as the HD Native card is in slot 4, firmware seems to upgrade as per normal. Testing now, but looks as though it's hunky dory. Slot 2 no workies...

Re: Pro Tools 10 HD Native - what OS for firmware upgrade?
Hi
I was wondering if anyone could give me detailed directions as to how to create a partition in osx lion then install 10.6.7.then how do I boot to that partition so I cans then install ptHD 9.0 then upgrade that to 9.5hd so I can then update the firmware on my HD Native card. After I update the firmware can i delete that partition and go back to using osx lion where pt 10 HD is already installed. I am using a magma pci e chassis (single slot) with a macbook pro quad core. My interface is an avid hd omni. I have install disks for protools hd 9.0 and can update to 9.5hd Is there anyone out there that is selling a retail version of 10.6.7 still? I'm feeling like I'm stuck. Spent a boatload of cash and pt 10 hd won't update the firmware (-1166) from reading this forum it sound like the way to go is partition the drive and install 10.6.7 but i am a newbie and not sure of the steps to take. If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated Thanks Neal |
