Default Core Audio Manager will not shut down.

I am using PT7.3 at the moment and 10.4.8 but this problem has existed since I very first installed PT at v7.1. It is not really a problem so much as an annoyance.

I like to use the 002 as my primary sound card so I can make use of my monitors to listen to Itunes etc. Obviously this happens by way of the Digi CoreAudio manager. Trouble is, when I want to load PT the core audio manager will not shut down so I have to reboot. I always close all apps that may be using the manager but this does not cause it to close.

Sometimes it will tell me there is a program using it other times it says nothing it just locks.

I f I close down with in a short time of a reboot it works fine, this only happens after the PC has been on a while so I am guessing something is not releasing allowing the manager to shut down.

Any suggestion please?

Regards

Andrew Brierley

Forgot to mention, Force Quit does not help. It will no longer appear in the force quit box but there is still a triangle under the Icon.

Can you quit out of the Core Audio Manager BEFORE launching Pro Tools?

Have you tried trashing preferences, yet, including 'com.digidesign.coreaudiomanager.plist' and 'Digidesign Core Audio Manager.plist'?
