What!!!!??? Absurd Cannot Save Neo Assertion!

iMac 24inch. 4MB - Aluminum.
Second drive is a GTech from Apple - top of line.

Cannot save my work.
Error says,
Could not complete your request because Neo Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/vb_cliff/AlturaPorts/SDKs/NEO61/Libraries/Macintosh/Environments/Alone/../../../Source/CNeolOBlock.cpp", line 164.

Help....I cannot get my work done! Due tomorrow afternoon!

Delete the Digidesign Database folders on the root of each hard drive (system and external) Empty the trash, reboot and relaunch PT.

What do I need to do to keep this from happening in the future? I was just reading that 7.3.1 addressed this issue, and I have it installed....so what do I need to do? continue deleting databases? They are easy enough to find with
"Spotlight" on the Mac. I had about 10 of them.

Its just a ongoing PT "Quirk" Er Irk!.

You will see the phrase "Trash your Prefs and Databases" and this is what it refers to. The Digidesign Databases as I understand it hold info on wether that hard dive is a valid PT recording volume or transfer volume and no harm is done by deleting them as they will be "Rebuilt" the next time PT launchs if they are missing. They probably contain some indexing info the sessions also.

At any rate a couple of good PT tips is to repair "Disk Permissions" after any new software installs, and to know where to find the various "Prefs" and "Databases" that need to be trashed.

I haven't had to trash my actual prefs in foreever but a little searching will turn up the locations of those files also and you should have a rough idea of were they are located in case you run into a situation where you ned to trash them also. The various "Prefs" contain info like your I/O settings and the like. If you actually have to thrash your prefs at some point you may have to reset some of your PT "Settings" so to speak. The Prefs are PT's equivalent of a UNIX/Linux "plist" file

A neo access error uasually means someting is corrurpt with the database and not the actual files thankfully.

I'm not sure that explanation is 100% accurate but should give you a feel for how PT handles objects on the hard drive.
