I get this, and definitely get why you're glad you sold Mercury some time ago. But I'm far too pragmatic for anything this draconian. I don't buy software as an investment, I buy it to do a job. If it's a good price and does a good job, that's kinda all I'm interested in.

Gold is a really solid bundle. While there's not a single best-in-class product in it, one of the biggest plusses for it now is that its pretty much all low CPU. Good workhorse stuff, I still routinely use the C1, Renn Verb etc. But it's definitely true that even stock DAW plugs are much better than they used to be, and thus a bundle like Gold isn't quite the draw it was. As long as no-one kids themselves that they're getting an $800 product in today's market that is now 93% off, its a pretty good buy - just be careful on the install via Waves Central that the "update all Waves products" is unchecked if you have other Waves plugins too, or you'll end up in a helluva mess.

I will only use Waves if they'll pay me. And only for a single project...(well, that depends on how much they'll pay me).

Nice. But did you get any extra plugins or did you have them all already?

I just upgraded to Mercury for $335. But I already had Horizon and a bunch of other individual plugins. The temptation got the better of me and I had the cash to do it, so why not?

I got a lot more plugins than I had. I also had vouchers to cover the cost.

Totally! So much so, that if anyone is considering investing in Waves plugins... I would aim higher than the Gold bundle. It is ok, and decently priced at $55 but Audiodeluxe is selling the Horizon bundle for just $235 when you use the ANN30 discount code. That is crazy cheap, but more importantly... it is also just a short hop from there to the Mercury bundle. You also get some pretty tasty staples like Vocal Rider, H-Delay, the Kramer PIE stuff, and the Ren series.

Screw the Gold Bundle!
