Default Protools 7.4 on MacBookPro, official supported by Magma!!!

Hello:
Today I received a very good news from Magma, Digidesign do not support this configuration yet, but Magma confirmed it, I copy of the email received from Magma:
-------------------------------
Hello Pablo-

One thing that I would like to make a comment on is that you will be able to use your ProTools card now with either a MacBook Pro or MacPro. With the latest release of ProTools 7.4 and MacOS 10.5 – this fixed the issue that we were having with getting multiple ProTools cards to work at one time.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Jill Kohlhorst
Account Executive
--------------------------------

I will receive my new Magma PCI-e 34 card next week, I will try with my magma 13 slot PCI chassis and Magma 2 slot chassis.

Happy new year

Pablo

Does this really mean I can get a PCMCIA or whatever they use now and switch to a Macbook Pro from my G5 and use my Magma 7 slot baby?
That would be like having a girlfriend that likes football and never says no.

I just talked to Jill from Magma on the phone. It wasn't clear to me from the OP which PT cards we were talking about, but she said she was indeed referring to using PCI cards with Intel Macbooks.

The only point she made is that if you've already got an expansion chassis, it should have been made within the last two years for this to work, because the older chipset isn't compatible.

I'm waiting with full anticipation
I did speak with Jill Kohlhorst at Magma myself and she confirmed it.

Confirmed!!

But you need the new "Pericon" chipset included in the last expansion chasis, if you use older chasis (with intel chipsets) you can only use one Digidesign card (Core HD) at same time!!!

My test results (all in MBP 2,2Ghz dualcore2duo):

-EC34+2u Magma chasis (DEC chipsets, old chasis): MacOSX not works (either X.4.11 nor X.5.1), but Windows XP works, only one card at same time.

-EC34+2u Magma chasis (Pericom chipsets, new chasis): MacOSX & Windows XP works, Up two cards and Sonnet SATA Raid HD card (to use internal HD drives inside the 2u chasis).BEST PORTABLE SOLUTION!!

--EC34+13u Magma chasis (DEC chipsets, old chasis): MacOSX & Windows XP works, only one card at same time.

--EC34+13u Magma chasis (Pericom chipsets, new chasis): MacOSX & Windows XP works.

I can´t check it by PCMCIA card (I do not have any portable computer with this "old" cards).

Protools: HD Accel & Process card, v7.4cs2
OS: OSX.4.11&5.1, Windows XP SP2
Computer: MacBookPro 2,2 actual model

Note: the maximun track account is about 96 to 128 tracks.

Wow, that's really cool - thanks!

How do you have so many chassis? That's quite a collection.

How does one identify which chipset is in the chassis?
