Source Connect Pro X or Similar for remote Review - reposting b/c of server glitch
Due to some server maintenance this thread got deleted, so I am reposting.
I was asking about opinions for 5.1 remote review options. Anyone using SC Pro X? Anyone have a better option? BScout gave a great response about how uses it for Orchestra work LA<-->London. Thanks for that.

Re: Source Connect Pro X or Similar for remote Review - reposting b/c of server glitc
We use SC-X for 5.1 reviews several times, and have not had any issues.
We normally use it in 7.1 mode to allow for LTC and TB on the remaining channels. Only thing to watch out for is the channel layout as LFE needs to be routed to ch4 in SC-X. |

I have used it several times (both with RTS control in 5.1 and 7.1 with LTC/TB as Stephen describes)
It's not bullet proof, but it works well. I've also run a skype as a talkback instead, to minimize latency... as sometimes with 5.1 you have to have the buffer up pretty high and TB latency becomes an issue.

Re: Source Connect Pro X or Similar for remote Review - reposting b/c of server glitc
I used SC Pro for remote VO recording for years, then we recently got SC Pro X for remote 5.1 mix reviews and I found it much more stable than all my previous experience with SC. Maybe I just got lucky, but I was surprised that more channels = less problems.

Re: Source Connect Pro X or Similar for remote Review - reposting b/c of server glitc
We used it last year for Deluxe Toronto to feed us 5.1 Mix, plus TC and TB for a TV series Exec approvals.
Paired with Nexus it was a pretty good system. There are minor dropouts and it takes some tweaking to find the right balance but overall it was good. Communication though suffers from high latency as others suggested. |
