Default Digi H/W echange from 001 to 002 rack

Well I made the choice to move forward with Tiger so I've yanked the 001 out of my system and am contemplating taking Digi up on their H/W exchange. Has anyone done it? Appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience or opinions. Looks like the 002 Rack is where I'm headed. Digi's exchange sheet says it will cost me $795 (plus my old H/W). For now I'm playing with Garageband.
Thanks,
silverback

If you can sell your Digi 001 for more than about $250, you're better off buying the 002R elsewhere.

Hello fellow 001 brother...

First of all, I wouldnt do the swap, you can ebay a 001 for at least $300-$400 if its decent. Secondly, i'm in the same boat and i'm personally waiting to see this m-audio situation shake out.

I dont know your setup, but you can get an M-audio interface and software for much less then a 002/002R depending on what you want to do. I'm just waiting to see how buggy this is.

HI,

I am in the same situation. But I won´t decide anything till late this year.

I LOVE PT but the 002r is not really my taste and the MBOX even less. Personally I´ll i am in for a Audiophile 192, and a better outboard mixer for my (few) outboards.

I too would rather sell my 001 and get a new 002 or M-Audio stuff, but it really depends on what you need.

besides that from what I read over the years HW exchange is really flawless.

I'm holding off as well, but would sell my 001 on eBay and buy an 002R elsewhere as well.

personally, I would love to have a firewire MBox. I've got converters a pre's but can't deal with the crappy USB latency.

The Focusrite Saffire (on paper, at least), is what I'd like to see as an Mbox. The mediocre toys from M-Audio are a step in the wrong direction for serious ProTools users.

True. It should have been the Mbox2. I like the firewire connection, the powered plug-ins for recording, the surround-capable outputs, the MIDI I/O, up to 192KHz AD/DA. I just hope Digidesign won't be shy to "copy" these features in future LE products.

So you have decided to give up a working system to "upgrade" to Tiger, which might not even work with Pro Tools for 6 months, or ever ? Do you work for apple or are you just one of those upgrade junkies who end up whining because the new "upgrades" don't work?

That's a cheap shot. Shame.

well, some people just have fun playing with the tools instead of using them. my 8 year old comes to mind. he finds a use for the tool as opposed to finding a tool to use.
