Default Pro Tools for iPad Pro - speculation

I can’t recall specifically but believe a version of Pro Tools for iPad is on Avid’s roadmap. In the same way as PT Control complements and works with a Mac or Windows Pro Tools system, I suspect many would expect an iPad version to similarly be positioned as a new option e.g. to facilitate remote workflows.

For those who like to consider and speculate about these things, Apple’s marketing direction when launching the iPad Pro and having Adobe reveal a full version of PhotoShop opens up other possibilities.

In the world of graphics, iPads are used as input devices (e.g. for PhotoShop) with the likes of Duet and AstroPad apps in place of a Wacom tablet, yet many have found sufficient power and functionality in native iOS apps such as ProCreate or Affinity Photo (similar to the AP ‘desktop’ Mac app) to do work without a connected computer. Adobe have been keen to stress that PS for iPad is the full application and not some cut-down version ... yet using the touch/pencil interface that is surely more natural for artists.

Could Avid be working on a full Pro Tools (and maybe Sibelius) port to an ARM architecture for iOS on iPad Pro ... maybe this could use the cloud collaboration features to streamline a workflow that uses both e.g. iPad and Mac platforms? Here’s an interesting article that looks into the introduction of USB-C on iPad Pro and dependencies on opening up external storage, file system, etc.:

... and before ruling this possibility out as simply for the Garageband crowd, consider that if Pro Tools is to even exist in a couple of decades, there are future musicians not yet born today who would be using this in 20 years time. Not everyone works in post and one could maybe even see the reinstatement of some real PT HD differentiation in this scenario? :)
