Default OT: Screens - Curved Vs Flat - Pros And Cons

Hello!

Curved screens seem to be fashionable, these days. Could you share your experiences and "views"?

I had to buy a second monitor last weekend, for some reason I couldn't find any curved monitor that had a refresh rate higher than 60hz, I'm sure there are but not in my local store.

TVs (LCDs) are pointless to have curved between the distance they are from you and the size (even 80" screens.) I think most TV companies are giving up on them. You'd need a very large screen, very close to be useful with a curve (curves also eliminate the number of viewers who are seeing the screen best.)

Computer monitors at 3 ft or less away, for the 34" and larger ultrawides, the curve is useful as they are completely in your field of view. If they are further than 3ft away, the curve doesn't make sense again (it just adds optic distortion.)

I had a sales guy admit it was more marketing than anything else. I have nothing against them myself, but since my screens are stacked and not the same size, flat makes more sense here(and the curve may cost extra)

I have looked at the curved monitors at MicroCenter, but the added cost doesn't seem to be justified (to me). I think they are mainly aimed at gamers.
