Default S3 v2

Hello!

Avid when can we have a S3 without the audio interface so we're not paying 5K$ for a 16 fader controller?

Please pretty please?

I would buy one!

I don't think the audio interface is the expensive bit.

5K is expensive? Depends on what you compare it with. In the history of Avid controllers it’s cheap... The built quality is very high and the OLED displays good. I guess the audio interface is a minor cost factor.

Seeing the price on these:

I think there is room for improvement in the price tags of Avids surface controllers

Go ask Vintage King to quote you a price...

They usually come in about $3500 for these

FYI - always go to the dealer

All due respect. This is apples to oranges.
I owned a faderport 8 and I currently own an S3.
The difference in build quality and functionality is not subtle.

A few dollars of cost for audio components is unlikely to going to break the bank here, and removing that feature even if marketing wanted to do that differentiation to give more price tiering is likely to add more overall cost/complexity.... what will sell more S3 is lowering the price, what hopefully will lower the cost of the S3 is selling more S3...

I don't work for a manufacturer, but I think we're all losing track of the fact that baked into the price ($1200 for a Dock or $5k for an S3, $22k for a base S6...) is that you're paying for the continued development of EuCon. Is the Dock worth $1200 in parts? Definitely not. You're paying for access to a new ecosystem. That thing from Behringer is based on HUI, which came out 20 years ago. Development is done on HUI and the SDK is probably cheap.
