I had the same problem and it turned out i had a wrong configuration.

Setup/Peripherals:
Type: M-Audio Keyboard
Receive From: Axiom61 M-Audio Direct Link IN
Send to: Axiom61 M-Audio Direct Link OUT
Channel: 8

PT11 crossed its arms and ignored my MIDI controller, M-Audio 61es, for about a month. I threw everything I could think of at it, and on deadline had to remember more than I wanted to about manually editing MIDI files. Then this morning I thought to trash my Preferences folder. Duh. Works fine now.

What the actual hell?

So mine randomly started working again despite getting the "Pro tools is unable to communicate with M Audio keyboard" error message.

I played around with it for about two minutes then the audio mysteriously cutout and now I can't get it to work again no matter what I do.

This is f******g ridiculous.

Intel Core i7 6700HQ 2.60GHz / 3.50GHz (6MB cache) Skylake, 15.6" LED FullHD 1920 x 1080, nVidia GeForce GTX 950M 4GB, 8GB DDR4 , 1TB SATA, USB podrška: 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, Windows 10 Pro 64bit with Pro Tools 12.5 HD

i Have M Audio Oxygen 25 MKIV

and i get message

''pro tools is unable to communicate with m audio keyboard''

how to fix this and why is happening?

I have the same issue, but I got my axiom 61 first gen to work. I didn't REALIZE you have to have the record latch on in order for soft synths to work. Just record enable the track and start playing the keys. Should work.

It's the end of 2017 and the issue is still here. I've protools 12 and m-audio keystation 61...I've tried on on cubase and all works fine. I've tried every possible configuration but nothing happens. I can't hear what I play during recording, only after...and sometimes it doesn't record at all!

Which version of hardware
WIN version.
Drivers loaded which version
All connection types
Desired outcome
Troubleshooting steps already taken
