Default Audio Track I/O in grey but getting mic sound input how to turn yellow

My I/O for the mic input is grey but I can still record. But if I put 2 audio tracks in a session the I/O turns Yellow. How do I fix this?? Was working fine until I switched to Fast Track Pro. But when back to my M-Track Plus. I have reset I/O all back to Default.

Running on a MacMini 10.9, M-Audio M-Track Plus,
