I mean, even SSD are getting to be super cheap these days. It only makes sense to keep the session files on a separate drive for security and ease of organization. But I guess that's more problematic for Mac laptops that only have one slot for a single SSD. In my Lenovo laptop I have three separate internal SSDs for a total of 2TB of storage.

Of course you need to have a backup plan, that is a given.

What's wrong with my single internal 2TB SSD and possibility to add 6 thunderbolt and another 6 USB external drives?

Several years ago I was using a partitioned (so I could back up the system)1TB SSD for both OS and sessions. It works perfectly well. In fact, it worked better than having my sessions on a WD black spinner. I was thinking about the recommendation to use multiple drives if one had more than 24 audio tracks, and wondering if the shortcoming was from PT or simply the slowness of spinners to handle more than 24.

1 or 2% even on large sessions. I thought that meter was just for the amount of disk space available.
