Default digi003+rack

The press release for the digi003+rack is not entirely clear, it describes it as having 18 inputs: 8 mic, 8 line, 8 adat and 2 spdif.

Are the mic and the the line ins separate channels?
Is it possible to record 16 channels simultaneously without using external converters?

Is it possible to chain one of these with a 002 on the same computer?

So many questions...

from what i understand, even if you use the 1/4" ins, they still go through the onboard pres.

its actually 8 inputs on the interface itself. 8 ch with 1/4" OR xlr connections. 8 inputs + 8 ADAT + 2 SPDIF = 18 inputs

you can only use one or the other, that is you cant use the 1/4" and xlr from the same channel.

so no, you can only use 8ch simultaneously without adat or spdif.

and i dont think you can use multiple interfaces.

barstool719 is right on the money. One DIGI interface at a time(unless you are going to sync 2 complete systems-separate computers AND interfaces). Traditionally, the mic/line inputs have a switch that, in the LINE setting, simply bypasses a gain stage of the mic preamp circuit. I expect that this is the case on the DIGI003 and 003+. The preamps sound clean and neutral so any character of external preamps(patched into the line inputs) should retain their "character".
