Default pro tools 6.4 with digi 001

I was wondering if I should upgraqde to Pro tools Le 6.4 for my digi001 ?
I am running 5.3.1 on XP right now but the new bomb factory free plugins wont work also
Waves Diamond bundle requires PT LE 6.4
Should I make the switch? Also is there a performance plus or minus with 6.4 upgrade??
Peace

I think there are still some PT 5.3.1 users who would refuse to switch based on stability. PT 5.3.1 was a very stable version of PT which there were very few if any bugs or problems. I think 6.4 has many unsolved issues that probably will never be fixed. I think you will probably lose performance between 5.3.1 and 6.4, there are major graphics changes which would be more cpu dependant alone. But there are some really cool things like free BF plug-ins (the BF76 at least) , re-wire (the "reason" I switched), and lots of other features. As for the waves diamond bundle, I'm not sure.

System requirements are set a little higher, the more proccessor, ram, and graphics intensive pro-tools gets in later versions.

PT 5x to 6x was a pretty big jump for changes implimented between versions.

6.4 is stable over here, and is a way better software (in functionality) then 5.3.1, however, at this point with pro-tools 6 + I reccomend to put as much Ram as you can fit, and afford in your machine, and many of the "instabillities" of 6.4+ will vanish.

Now 6.1, 6.1.1, and 6.2 are NASTY versions of pro-tools, with SERIOUS BTD, Insufficient resources plugin disabling, Midi operation data errors, the dawn of the high quality MP3 bounce, the list goes on and on. that were never resolved or fixed in those versions IMO.

I reccomend anyone running those versions to either update to 6.4 on an 001, or roll back to 5.3.1
