Default Time to reinstall the software?

A bit of weirdness in my beige G3 setup (PT 5.0.1, OS 8.6). I went to work on a project tonight and I couldn't get the Factory Settings to load on any of the AudioSuite plug-ins. My own customized settings were there and worked just fine, but although the Factory Settings were listed on the pull down menu, the parameters wouldn't come up on the control panel when I selected one.

I also discovered tonight that I couldn't get the Clear Selection command to work from the keyboard. Usually it's a highlight file, then type Command+Shift+B. Tonight it wouldn't respond. I had to find Clear Selection in the Audio File bin pull down screen to get the job done.

Apart from these anomalies, the six-hour recording and mixing session went just fine--no other weirdness. To be on the safe side, I'm wondering if a fresh installation of my ProTools software would make sense. Or should I trash some preferences first? Or is there another fix worth considering?

I think you're problems are not weird enough to reinstall the software... (though it's never a bad moment to do it... i almost do it once every month)

The problem with AudioSuite may come from a bad root folder assignment... check it out on the AudioSuite pop up menus...
