PRO TOOLS 7.4 and AVID MOJO SET UP!!!!
First of all i want to say hallo to everybody!
I've got a pt hd2 software 7.4 running on a mac g5 with 10.4 and an avid mojo. I'm used to output the video from component output to an lcd but i always had some problems. I would like to know which is the best video format for playback. I usually use to transcode the video with avid xpress into dv 40 format , but sometime is not working properly on the screen and it's loosing frames during playback. If i playback qt movies with mojo i noticed a variable offset between audio and video. Can you guys help me? Many Thanx Matteo |

Re: PRO TOOLS 7.4 and AVID MOJO SET UP!!!!
There is no DV40 resolution. Do you mean "DV50" or "DV25"? Your setup should work with Avid media of either resolution, and there should not be any dropped frames, but DV25 is normal PAL DV resolution. I would not use QuickTime movies through Avid for the reasons you noticed, video playback may not be as perfect as you want. If you are having problems playing an Avid movie track, it might be related to your hardware or your setup.
You have audio and video on a separate drives, right? The MOJO must be the only device on your computer's internal firewire port. Any other firewire drives must be connected through a separate interface card. Have you checked all other aspects of your setup for perfect compatibility? |

Re: PRO TOOLS 7.4 and AVID MOJO SET UP!!!!
Like he said the MOJO must be the only device connected to your internal firewire port. That goes for bothe the FW400 and FW800. They share the same port. Make sure you buy a FW interface that is fully compatible. If you are going to use QT Video you will have to use the Video Sync Offset. I usually get away with a offset of 22. I would highly recommend using a higher quality video format. Either AVID DV25 or DV50. You can also get away with DV-PAL or DV-NTSC depending on your frame rate. Again like the man said have a drive for the video and audio seperately.
Good Luck! Mitch |
