Default tweakhead

Why shouldn't I use it? Why does Roger Nichols hate it? And why does PT software indicate that it is the best way to do a sample rate conversion?

Someone talk to me, preferably tech support...

Well I'm all about doom and gloom-- anyone else have any experience?

I found that it would add some clicks to my material (I think it was tweakhead...), what has everyone else found?

It may be their recommended method, but it's still the dreaded CONVERSION!! I used it on a no-budget album's worth of acoustic music with a slight loss of depth, but no clicking artifacts… it gave my Mac something to do for an entire Saturday. However, I'm sure that it would have sounded better (and certainly been TONS quicker) to rent some Prisms & get on with life.

Warmest Regards,
Brian

That makes me feel better about tweakhead, bruce, but it seems that most people disagree from a real-world point of view, rather than theoretical. Why are so many people against tweakhead if Frank at Coolstuff is correct?

I don't know, just thought I'd throw it out there as another point of reference. And because Frank's one of the sharpest guys in the business, I know he's probably offering an intelligent and researched opinion on the subject.

But to be honest, I wouldn't begin to know the answer on this myself, which is why I just posted the CoolStuff url without comment.

Hello All,

I use tweekhead and think it's the best SRC PT offers. I agree with most of Roger's ideas and comments, although I don't agree with his tweekhead dis' as it were and the numbers in an SDII tear down, simply prove him wrong; open an SDII file in Code Warrior and look...or simply listen. The "Better" setting is closer to analog in some ways, maybe thats what people see in it.

I think some of this digital audio stuff gets a bit over the top. The Steely Dan stuff is all about endless tweeking...and always has been way over the top for me.

Guys...use tweekhead or if you have the means, a Sonic Solutions station for SRC and don't be a voodoo tweekhead.

Just my thoughts, based on the current scientific data available, my real world experience and not based on guess work or planetary alignment; Frank Kicks serious A double S...

Regards

e
