Default PT2020 (High Sierra) and 192 Blue + HDCore card

Hi there

(apologies for the cross post was just looking for an answer quickly!)

I am struggling to find a definitive answer but...

I can pickup a 192 I/O Blue interface and a HDcore card (pcie).

Will this work in High Sierra and will it be visible as an interface for say ProTools 2020 (or I have earlier versions as well) or any other DAW?

I have read posts that say its all fine and others that say NO WAY...

I know Pro Tool and Digidesign gear can be a bit picky about playing with other things but if someone could give me a definate YES or NO that would be great...

If the answer was YES would that mean that additional Accel and HDcore cards and 96 I/O interfaces could be connected as well?

Many Thanks

No.

Only HDN and HDX will work with PT11 and later. HD cards are for PT10 and earlier

OK thanks

Is that PT10 HD or just normal PT10

I have read that people have had these setup and they show as normal interface that can be used by any DAW - I gues your saying that exclude ProTools (later than 10)

thanks

You will need HD software to go with HD hardware

If you install CoreAudio driver you can use it with Logic with certain limitations. But the problem still is HD cards were last supported on Snow Leopard. No way you get it working in High Sierra

192 blue still works with hdx cards under 2020.5.

Hd core cards do not work anymore in protools.

Get a hdx card and 192 blue.

HDN card should work with that configuration. I'm on PT2019.10 (mac pro 5,1, OS 10.14.6) and use a HDN card with four blue interfaces. You just need the cable adapters to convert to the newer digilink connectors. The older TDM cards won't work past PT10.

Good luck,
Jared

Thanks for all the answers

I see the path ahead now (sort of).. With the HD native and HD X cards do they still require a 'HD" version of Pro Tools or will they run under the current standard PT versions?

many thanks again

Yes, you need HD/Ultimate software to go with HD hardware
