Default Compatability with Socket 939

Are there any compatability issues with Socket 939 and its 1Ghz FSB?

Nope -- the only issue so far seems to be with Dual Core Athlon chips. I have posted another thread on this topic.

939 is DigiDesign approved. Make sure you used an approved chipset.

Asus a8v deluxe is awesome (and has an approved chipset) and has built in support for dual core or not (upgrade in a year when they get cheap)

I was kind of lucky in buying my dual core chip -- I got a 4400 retail for $625, and then a week later they shot up to $730 for the same thing, I couldn't believe it.

It is still more expensive to buy a single dual-core 4400 than two of their single-core equivalent chips, which sucks, but they don't make dual socket 939 boards as far as I know.

I'm very happy with my system, but I do wonder sometimes if going for a dual opteron setup would have been better. I think the main reason I didn't was because opteron motherboards (socket 940) are not nearly as full featured as 939 boards (and they are usually more expensive). The board I got has the nForce 4 ultra chipset and built-in SATA RAID-5 which is pretty cool. The board can support up to 8 SATA drives total.
