I would really recommend to upgrade your version of Pro Tools now. Avid seem to offer a very cool version of upgrade
at the moment which comes with 1 year updates/upgrades but without consistent support and therefore will be only $99.-!
This is an amazing option imo!
Important to know, after 31st Dec 2015 there will be no updates for any older version of Pro Tools available anymore.
Avid will skip any upgrades by 2016.
If you will want a current version of PT then, you will have to buy a new, full version of PT for the full (much higher) price
or just go with a monthly/annual subscription only.

So it´s the best time to upgrade until the end of December 2015. Upgrading Pro Tools never has been more affordable as well.

P.S. you may also check out if your current audio interface may work with all the latest stuff! If not, there are very affordable
yet good, useable boxes out there. This is one of the most affordable ones for example (if money should be an issue).

There isn't going to be any more OS work done on PT10, and likely no other updates either. It took ages to get 10.3.10 out so everyone please expect that to be the last TDM release.

Shouldn't be a surprise, however. PT10 is old already.

without any problems. This is 6-7 versions of OSX later than the one they came with once. No Windows machine can do that.
Not to nitpick, but Windows 10 requirements:
Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster.
RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
Free hard disk space: 16 GB.
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver.

So a computer from ~2002+ will work (likely horribly) with MS's newest OS. There seems to be a lot more issues with Mac's around here over the last couple of years then Windows.

Sadly, it is true. Windows has far superior backwards compatibility. Mac users are a majoriry so there are a lot of complaints

As far as backwards compatibility is concerned this may be true finally.

As far as the functionality with Pro Tools is concerned I cannot confirm this at all.

Neither from my personal experience (had been using PT with Windows/PC for years,
changed to Mac 6 years ago) nor from the experience of others here in the DUC.

Pro Tools just does work better with/on Mac systems, simply more trouble free in general.

Yeah, Pro Tools specifically may have less issues (although I don't have any currently with my Windows setup). I was referring more to interfaces not working with new OSX without constant driver updates.

Joel
maybe this has something to do with the fact that here are way more PT-users on mac than on windows-machines ?
