Default Importing Audio file issue

Hi - A musician I'm working with has sent me a MP3 file of her vocal and guitar track. When I convert and import the track into Pro Tools (10.8.3), the guitar is loud and clear, but the vocal is barely audible. Any thoughts on why this might be and how to fix it?

Many thanks,

BB

Try using "Clip Gain" on the vocal files and raise it up a few db and see if that helps anything, also you could use clip gain to lower the giitar tracks a few db so they meet better in the mix?

Best Regards

Are the vocals and guitar on one stereo track? Or are you saying you have two separate tracks, one Guitar and one Vocal?

Sorry, should have been clearer - vocal and guitar are on the same track.

It sounds like you may be having a phase issue of some sort. Does it sound kind of phasey? I ask because if the vocal is panned center and the guitars are panned wide, then if your right and left channels are out of phase from each other, then the middle (vocal) could be drastically reduced in volume.

This could be happening, for example, if the wires/cables wiring your speakers (monitors) flip the phase on one of your speakers.
