In the market to upgrade 002
I would like something that integrates with pt10, something like my 002 motor sliders, firewire or USB whatever is best.
I don't see anything that is an all in 1 solution for the comparable cost. I like what has been said about the sapphire interface but the sliders I would miss. So, what works for you? Win 7 I7 920 6gb ram 2/ WD 500 GB blacks Ivory 2 |

Re: In the market to upgrade 002
There really isn't an all-in-one replacement for the 002/003. Closest you might find is the Yamaha 01V96i, which has 16 motorized faders, as well as 12 mic preamps, 4 TRS inputs, and ADAT built in. You can us the USB connection and ASIO or Core audio drivers to send 16 channels of audio into and out of Protools. Cost is a little under $1,900.

Re: In the market to upgrade 002
How about combining an artist mix with say, a focusrite interface?

Re: In the market to upgrade 002
Sure, you can combine any number of interfaces with any number of control surfaces.
I figured you were looking for an all in one solution.

Re: In the market to upgrade 002
yes, I was. I just assumed there were more 002-003 style choices out there. The 0196i is a good but a bit dated from what i see. SOS liked it but noted its age.
I don't have to have faders but it would be nice. So I am just seeing what has worked for a small high quality project studio. I run ivory inserts in PT10, a few mics and sometimes a guitar. The drum kit has 2 overhead mics and a kick mic and that's about it. just as a random idea, maybe getting an ipad style tablet and running fader software is a way to go. |

Re: In the market to upgrade 002
I recently upgraded from my 002r with a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56. I absolutely love it. I use a Ramsa DA7 digital board in my setup as well, for additional mic pres, monitoring, talkback and hui emulation. Still sounds great for what I do!

Re: In the market to upgrade 002
As to replace the surface you might have a look at these new controllers.
http://www.musicradar.com/news/tech/...llers-592989/1 If it comes to pro audio quality Behringer might not be no.1 to go but in this case there is no audio data sent through, only midi etc. and it looks not too bad actually. It is brand new and prices seem to be Dollar 599.- for X -Touch http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/X-TOUCH.aspx Dollar 399.- for X-Touch Compact http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products...H-COMPACT.aspx which is very reasonable IMO for motorized faders and all the stuff. As to audio interfaces you may have a look into this thread where there is listed a bunch of available stuff from several manufacturers. http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=351848 I assume you have FW on your PC as you had your 002 connected to it, so you can choose between FW and USB without having to buy an extra FW card. As far as I know e.g. many Motu interfaces offer both connection types on one interface which is pretty handy as you can manage it well with your other gear. And the Motus seem to work well with PT11. http://www.motu.com/products On the other hand many users here use to work with Focusrites interfaces e.g. http://www.sweetwater.com/c682--Focu...Dk2Njg2NSJdfX0 Audio interfaces that have been proven to work great with Windows systems are the ones from RME. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/manu...E/low2high/pn2 That´s really good pro stuff but as you seem to need more than 2 Mic pres (which you could get for about Dollar 750.-) you would have to spend a bit more money for RME. But it´s definitely worth it in particular with Windows systems because of it´s high quality, reliability and versatility. e.g. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Fireface800/ combined with a X-Touch would be a very nice replacement for the 002 and definitely one step upwards sound quality wise (had one 002 and 003 too once). Anyway. Just as a suggestion. Best of success, VRW MacMini i7Quad, 16GB Ram, MBP Mid 2012 2,5GHz i5, 16GB Ram, MacOS 10.9.2, Apogee Quartet+Duet 2, Genelec Active, Yamaha NS10, Pro Tools 11.1.2, Logic 10.0.6, Waves, MCDSP, Duende Native, Softube, HOFA, IK Multimedia etc |

Re: In the market to upgrade 002
Thanks for all the links.
I have been patiently awaiting for this x-touch to be released. I will get it thru GC and take it back if not what is expected. The saphire 56 seems to be THE interface under 1k. There are ebay units for about 600. Seems to me, not much moving parts so used would be a good risk. The ONLY thing that concerns me is the age of the 56 and what will be released around the corner that will do more for less. I continue to use the 002 until the right one comes along. I dont want to go through this again for a long time. Many posts have said the sound quality jump is quite noticeable between the 2. |

Re: In the market to upgrade 002
Who still uses the command 8 out there?
How does it compare to the artist mix? Will it work in PT11? |

+1 I got mine used several years ago, great unit. Really flexible, zero latency. Tough to get your mind around the software at first but really flexible. Multi headphone mixes no sweat. Alt monitors - no sweat The only thing it's missing is the onboard DSP with some verb and soft limiting
