Just checking, everyone saw they needed to update their HD driver as well yes?

I only ask because I've literally only just noticed it in the Avid Application Manager.

Its disappointing to see so many people discovering crashes and bugs with PT 12.3
May I respectfully suggest that AVID release PT 12.4 before 2016 which is free from bugs. No new features....just fix the bugs.
When PT has had the major bugs fixed ( CPU overloads, crashes, noise blasts) then I may consider giving money to them again.
Tom suggested we give the code writers of PT 12.3 a standing ovation. I'm still sitting down....

As an HD user, I can't even begin to get off the chair to reach for my credit card.

This gives me allot of confidence in spending $599 before the end of the year!

NOT!

I've found 12.3 to be MORE stable than previous versions.

I'm getting a lot less 9171s,9172s, and 9093s than I was.

Keep in mind this is a users forum where people come when they have problems, so that's all you'll see.

That sounds encouraging Drew.
So how many 9171s, 9172s and 9093s are you getting in each session now. Or per hour?

Thanks for the replies to my last. I'll hold off for the moment while the good folks here (and hopefully Avid) track down these issues. I don't buy the argument that only people with issues post here - while there is of course some truth in that it's too easy a brush-off when many are experiencing similar issues.

Well, I don't think Avid have exactly been moving at the speed of light now have they? No new significant features at all for a couple of years til 12.3. IMO the issue is they saw this feature-desert coming a long way off, and planned on he subs thing to buy them enough time til they could roll out. That time has pretty much gone - they added some subs-only plugins to fill the gap, and finally now some genuinely useful new features, which isn't too much to expect after 2 years in a competitive market place. Sadly it does look like it was still a little rushed though. Guess they knew they had to show SOMETHING (albeit nothing unique for HD, and yes it absolutely needs them too)

Looking forward, this will indeed be an ongoing problem for 3rd party devs. A stated aim was to get everyone on the same latest version... I really can't see that ever happening. Well likely get even more confusion over people stopping at a version that works with their own rigs, all different.

No doubt it was an absolute priority one imperitive to get a version with something new out before the end of the year, otherwise many more people were likely to choose not to upgrade to 12 this year.

The next imperitive must be to get something with substantive new features out by end of March 2016, when those early adopter plans with the free added extra months all run out and need renewal.

If Avid can get a 'real' fix for 12.3 out by the end of the year, all well and good you may think, except people's faith in Avid's capability has been further eroded by the unforseen issues in recent releases, both in terms of bugs and in terms of some of the licensing decisions. That has likely punctured at the very least a bit of a hole in last quarter 2015 upgrade numbers.

One thing is certain, we need a bug fix release that captures 'most' of the biggie bugs before the end of the yar, and another substantive 'cool new features' update by the end of March 2016, otherwise Avid's tenuous finanical projections will be blown well and truly out of the water.

Drew, I haven't had a single error message. The ONLY issue I had was an issue with a 3rd party plugin - CamelSpace from Camel Audio (AAX version). Seemed to cause PT to crash once in a while. Otherwise, I've not had a single issue with it.

Likewise here, both 12.2 and 12.3 have been absolutely rock solid, I'm pleased to say ...
