Hi @ all,
I`m doing postpro work for a client (Film overdubbing). I´m getting the script as text files, for example like this: 00:00:02 text text text text text text 00:00:29 text text text text text text and so on. Is it possible to convert the Time informations into markers / file splits / whatever to import into PT? Tried EdiMarker, but with no success (text has to be in a special format, and it´s impossible to re-write 90 pages before converting)... Thank you for your inputs! Regards, Eternitas |

You can try this but the text will still need to be formatted correctly.

Edimarker might be able to help with this too.

Yes I think both options - mine and Edimarker, have quite strict requirements. I need to look at this at some point as a colleague of mine needed more flexibility with this recently. Won't be happening imminently though I'm afraid.

Hmm, yes, I thought I could somehow go around this requirements. I´ll try again, perhaps I find a workaround. Thank you for your inputs!

Finally, I found a way to work this out with EdiMarker. But: Really tricky!! (open original Textfile in Excel, filtering time informations from script with excel rules and filters, copy them to a new excel file, insert dummy names in column 1, convert time informations in column 2 to exact timecode format so that EdiMarker would recognize it, export as txt in right format (NO empty fields!), convert to MIDI File in EdiMarker, import in PT as Markers). A lot of try and error, but it finally worked!

You could probably do all the excel job with a small sed/awk script. Need a little practice, but can save many time.

Hello Eternitas,
I have worked on this with proprietary rtf files that contains scenes numbers and Timecodes and some text... I have made some python scripts that convert rtf to text with filtered scenes numbers and TC, then converts txt into midi file that you can import in PT. That works for me ! Can you share one of your txt file ? I'll will see if I can adapt my scripts to it. Laori |
