Sound disappears suddenly

Hello,

i'm having this issue since this beginning (febr. 2010). Sometimes my sound just dissappears. It happens about 3/4 times a day! (I'm getting pretty sick of it right now) The fix for this is to untach usb cable from my mbox 2 mini and plug it back in.

Right now, even that doesn't work. At the moment i have no sound at all, not even when i unplug the device. (A reboot would do the trick i think, but i just wanted to mention it)

Im running ProTools LE 8 on a Windows 7 64bit with a mbox 2 mini.

ps. this doesn't only happen during PT sessions, but also with all other applications. Mostly it happens when im a few minutes away from my PC, but lately it started happening while i'm working with my PC.

Did you perform ALL the system tweaks as described in the setup guide? Including turning OFF the power management on all USB ports?

To be honest, i did not. I did read the setup guide but i didn't ran into that step.

Where could i find more information about it?

Okay didn't happen again since i've turned off the power management on the USB ports.

In the link you mention is also written to only install compatible plugins. Well my plugins aren't all compatible but that is logical because PT isn't the only DAW i use so i didn't really followed that step. Hope this will not be an issue in the future.

If your "non-compatible" plugins are VST, it probably doesn't matter as they would/should not show up in the Pro Tools plugins folder(which are all RTAS). If in doubt, navigate to C:>Program Files>Common Files>Digidesign>DAE>Plugins, and look for plugins(2 files per plugin) that never get used, and drag those files out of the folder(Ctrl-X to cut, then back out one level and find the Plugins(unused) folder>open that, click in the folder and hit Ctrl-V to paste those plugins in this folder(side benefit of removing extra plugins is a slightly faster loading time for PT).

I've found the cause of my problem, turning off the power management on the USB ports but now I'am facing a new problem. Everytime i reboot i need to turn off the power management on the USB ports again for some reason. How can i set it off PERMANENT?

Unfortunately it didn't help. The same problem occured again today..any other suggestions?
