002 vs 002Rack any first hand experience
Hello All,
I am upgrading a 001 to either a 002Rack system (original idea 'cause cheaper) or a 002. With the factory bundle and the music production kit there is "only" about £150 ($300) difference. So I am wondering is it worth the extra cash? the things putting me off: -I do go out and record on location (rubbish studios, rehearsal spaces, live gigs) every now and then and am wondering how transportabe the 002 is. (I have a friend who might be able to lend me a 002Rack and my 002 could sit in his studio for some of the jobs). - £150 (could get another decent mic). and the question is if I would really gain much from the 002. any first hand experience? anyone use both and now hate mixing on a 002Rack (fader rides suck on a mouse, right)? anyone have a 002 and mix with a mouse mainly? any other advantages to the 002 I'm not thinking of? any disadvantages I'm forgetting? anyone have a 002 racked in a special case (or would that cost as much as a 002 Rack)? The only thing I ever think I might want to have that the 002 gives me is fader rides, anyone know of a good and inexpensive one motorised fader system that works with PT? Thanx for your time rob |

Re: 002 vs 002Rack any first hand experience
I just upgraded from a Mbox to a 002 with the Tool kit and I couldnt be happier!
The 002 has transport buttons on the front, you can nudge tracks across the interface, you can zoom in on the track, you have a hardware counter, there are buttons for switching in between the the mix, edit, and active plug windows. It will function as a stand alone mixer with some DSP compression, delay ETC. So if the differance is only 300.00 bucks I would say by all means buy the 002 over the 002R. If you don't like it you can always go back to the mouse I haven't tried to take it to a gig or anything. I just set it up but its quite nice. I beleive a Command8 could be reused if you were to upgrade to a HD system down the road. I dont think there is much of in the way of control surfaces for under 300.00 The Tool kits worth it just for the plugs (if there things you can use).
