PT 9.02 BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring
spec:
OSX 10.6.3 Quad Core mac 6 gigs RAM PT 9.02 Clean install of OS & PT Since the 9.0 to 9.2 update BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring... for example if select "'remove al unused audio' in my session and then 'save as copy' when I open the copy all of the audio files I removed are still there... Any one else with this bug? Also Some time's I'm opening sessions and PT can't find fade or newly consolidated files PT just created! Is it just me? |

Re: PT 9.02 BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring
Check:
1) Your Disk Allocation. Your fades and consolidations are likely not going where you expect them to. 2) Confirm that when Selecting Unused: you are Showing all Auto Created Regions (option-apple-K) You're probably not cleaning up the region bin in the way that you imagine, so when you Save Copy, the save function is just dutifully copying the audio you have remaining, but possibly not visible to you, in your region bin. Re: PT 9.02 BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring
Thanks John for your advisory...
This is clearly a 9.02 bug as I've been working this way for years and it's only in the update from 9.0 to 9.02 this has been occurring. Tomorrow I'll look at what your saying but I haven't change my approach and now it's acting irrationally. Once I say it then close the session - then repeat the process, this usually cures the problem ! definitely a bug in there |

Re: PT 9.02 BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring
It's working absolutely fine here. Remove unused audio files (not just regions).
Save as copy and only the used files in the timeline remain. |

Re: PT 9.02 BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring
Hmmm....strange as my results seem to vary from session to session...
perhaps it was to do with a template that has some sort of a corruption that I might have built all of these sessions on. Likely that's the case... I use protools 9 recording and mixing literally 50 hours a week, this is an anomaly I have noticed. In general, based on my usage I find 9.02 less predictable in terms of bugs. Another bug is that I have sessions that Pro Tools will NOT allow me to remove a video file that is no longer in the session, but It's keeps asking me for it. Oh did I mention fades not rendering 100 % of the time? This is the norm working day in day out with any sort of computer based recording software - I've just come to accept it! |

Re: PT 9.02 BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring
I have seen this lately. You have to close the session and reopen and do another shift command U.
It was a bug in an earlier version of 7. Cant remember which version. But it went away for a few updates.

hmmm. yes reopening the session seems to rectify - what does this 'command U' command do?

Re: PT 9.02 BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring
Its the keyboard shortcut for "Select unused".

Re: PT 9.02 BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring
Same problem here.
Tried pretty much all troubleshooting solutions with no luck. I'm about to reinstall OS and I hope it will go away. For now the only workaround i figured out is to close the session, reopen it, import everything from the sessions audio file folder and repeat clearing unused. Also I almost lost bunch of tracks tryin to consolidate. After reopening a session the consolidated regions appeared as offline regions. It happend once or twice but scares the s**t out of me. Any ideas ?! -------------------------- Mac Pro 2x2,26 GHz Quad Core, OS 10.6.7, 6GB Ram, PT 9.02 CPTK2, up to date plugins |

Re: PT 9.02 BUG: Removal of Unused audio files not occurring
Any chance the Clear Unused Regions command lies within the undo cue, and only by closing and reopening the session you're starting with a clean slate undo cue?
