Default Still no MIDI with PT9 *NEED AVID SUPPORT*

First let me start by saying, I love PT9. Now the bad news....

Last week I ran into the MIDI driver problem with my 002 after installing PT9. (Disclosure: When I installed 9, I did install the 002/003 drivers.)
I was getting MIDI from my keyboard controller (via the MIDI light on the 002) but I wasn't getting anything within Protools itself. After endless stress (as my client was there wondering why I couldn't get MIDI to function) I finally got Protools to see the incoming MIDI. My solution was deleting the files in the HD/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers folder, as one of them appeared to still be v.8.0.4, and then reinstalling the 002/003 drivers again. Thankfully I was able to track the MIDI and life went on.

Fast forward to present. (Disclosure: I have NOT installed or removed or changed anything since then). I opened the same session to track some more MIDI and uh oh, no MIDI (I tried new session as well). The MIDI light doesn't even flash anymore. I have since tried deleting the MIDI drivers, reinstalling the 002 drivers, reinstalling PT9, reinstalling the 002 drivers again, installing the MIDI I/O Drivers. Whatever, nothing is working. I tried another MIDI controller to make sure the keyboard didn't die but same thing. No MIDI, no MIDI lights on the 002. I plugged in the keyboard via the USB, still nothing. I see it in the MIDI Devices in Protools9, but still nothing. I see the it and the 002 in the MIDI setup, but still nothing. I tested the keyboard via USB in Garageband and it works fine. So please, AVID/DIGI (whatever you go by now), please help. Perhaps suggest some solutions for me to try.

Thanks,
adaM

Check my post #34 here:

Try and install the new AUDIO-drivers! (not midi)

Thanks for the responses. Yes, MIDI thru is on and the 002/003 drivers that I were referring to, are the audio drivers.

Interestingly, I went thru the reinstall process again and am now able to get MIDI via the usb port. I still can't get MIDI thru the MIDI port on the 002, nor does the MIDI light blink.

At the end of the day, the USB connection is fine for now (until a client brings in an older weighted keyboard they want to use), but AVID/DIGI should at take a look at the MIDI issue that seems to be plaguing a few of us.

Hey Twix

If I where you I would try one more time to remove the Digi.plugins in the:
HD/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers folder (to a folder on the desktop e.g.)

Then install
First!:
1. MIDI I/O Driver for Mac
Then!:
2. 002 and 003 Family Drivers

Both found here:http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=379411

I'm curious so if you do it will you then tell if it works?

I would like to know which MIDI drivers you have in your MIDI Drivers folder.

Also - you do NOT need to install the MIDI I/O driver unless you actually own a hardware Digidesign MIDI I/O.

I just posted on an earlier thread as well, but I have no midi either. no 002 device showing up in Audio Midi setup at all. I did a completely fresh install of drivers and PT9 on a new HD.
the driver in my folder is

DigidesignFireWireMIDI.plugin v9.0

Any tips?
thanks

Have any of you tried trashing the specific MIDI preferences per the info in the General Troubleshooting thread?

I've re-installed the 002/003 family drivers and now there are two drivers in my Midi Driver folder and the 002 shows up in the Audio Midi Setup, and I can enter Midi via a USB keyboard.
So this is good! I guess on some machines there is an error if you install the drivers first?

However, I have not yet tried to enter midi via my 002 midi ports (that seems to be the problem for the OP as well) so will test that as soon as I can.

Other than that I'm LOVING PT9.

thank you Avid.
