PT 11HD upgrade question

Hi, currently running PT HD9 on a HD3 PCIe/MacPro rig running Lion

Also got a Macbook Pro with Mavericks. (without PT's currently)

Just want to confirm if I purchase a HD9 to HD11 update Box/Code from my dealer, I'll be able to run HD10 on the HD3 rig, and 11 on the Macbook Pro?

As I understand, the HD11 iLOK asset, has a built in HD10 licence?

Yes, that is all correct. You will actually get a free upgrade to HD12, but it will come with a license for HD11 and HD10.

Having bought the boxed HD9 to HD11 Upgrade from my dealer, I realise that buying the HD12 update from the Avid store would've given me a better deal by £80, but was uncertain what I was actually buying when initially taking this route.

Must say, in 18 years of Pro Tools hardware and software updates, it's never been so confusing, hence choosing a clearer path that I understood from the off, without having to research the licensing system here on the DUC.

Avid, you need to make it crystal clear for customers in your store.

Maybe they do things different where you are, but I was under the impression that when you buy an upgrade, you just get an activation code. Upon entering the activation code, you get whatever version is current, which right now is HD 12. It's an automated process. It sounds a little strange that there would be 2 separate prices from your dealer.

Dealer just had the boxed HD9-11, the HD9-12 is via the Avid website, for £80 cheaper.

Yeah, your totally right, bought the 11HD upgrade box, but received an 'HD upgrade Box' that gave me an HD10, HD11, and HD12 perpetual with a one year plan. (now understand what the means)

This is all good, initially when surfing the Avid store, was worried this would expire after a year, and that scared me off, hence going for the solid 11HD upgrade.

But it cost me £80 extra over the Avid store
