Magma PE6R4 is the one I've been using for years. Running HD4 Accel on PCIx cards in a 2012 MacPro. Will probably have to update to HDX in the next few weeks, and I'll be selling the chassis, so let me know if you might want to buy. Have the PCIe card, the cable and the chassis itself. So cheap to get into a really powerful system these days. . . .

i'm willing to sell my G5 dual 2.7 and Magma P7R4 (yes 7 and it works great) in a package to someone that intends to run 7.4 or 8

you can go HD6 for cheap if you get some cards and good to go for years

They work great...Cable included

Getting ready to sell my HD system as mentioned earlier in the thread. Not sure if this is the appropriate forum for a For Sale ad, so message me for prices if interested.

I am back to the idea of a Magma chassi and running 1 core + 2 ( or more ) Accel + UAD-2 Quad. All PCI-E cards. Using a Mac Pro 2010 with PCI-E slots.
Which chassi is the one to get?
Or will it be cheaper to buy a PCI-E to PCI-X chassi , and put the UAD-2 quad inside the Mac Pro and buy HD PCI-X cards...

Both PCI and PCIe HD cards are stuck at PT10 for good, and PCIe macs are not being manufactured any more. So there isn't really an advantage to getting a PCIe to PCIe chassis and PCIe HD cards unless you get an incredible deal on both the chassis and the PCIe HD cards.

I would put the UAD in the computer, and get a PE6R4-I. The Pe6R4-I chassis are fairly cheap if you can find a used one. PCI HD cards are dirt cheap, they are around $200 a card. If/When you upgrade to HDX, it's not likely you'll need more than 2 PCIe slots. At that point, if you keep your Mac Pro, you would probably just sell your HD cards and chassis, and put the HDX card in the Mac Pro.
