Is there anything you can remember doing up until the point when you saved and crashed that you could try re-creating the problem? Certain plug ins, instrument tracks, etc...

Well, i was using Kontakt 4 and East West Symphonic Orchestra. There wasn't much loaded really, i just had Drums of War loaded in Kontakt 4, then the violins and violas in EWQLSO and that's about it.

I was also doing some automation, basically just regular stuff that one would do in a session.

Maybe there's conflicts with Kontakt, or EW i'm not to sure, what do you think??

Maybe i'll load up the same session and just fiddle around with those plugins and see if i can re create the problem.

Yea i'd give that a try. Haven't used any of the East/West products and I'm still using the Kontakt 3.5 player for stuff. Maybe it was just a combination of things that caused it to ring up. Technically it's still in beta so that could always be it. Atleast if you could track down the problem manually then you could keep it from doing that again.

Yeah, i suppose if i try it out this way i can narrow down the problem, this way i can tell digi and see if they can get EW or Kontakt more compatible........ if that's the case??

Do a "System Restore"
go to start: - and type in the search field "Restore"
and you should see "System Restore"

And restore your windows , meaning go back in time, to the day the crash happened.
It should restore all your files back.

And always have The "System Restore Point Monitoring" on, on your C:> drive specially.
But if the files where on a external drive, they also have "Restore Points"
as long as they had "System restore" monitoring on.
so when things like this happen, you can always go backwards in time
and restore files, no matter what drives they are on..

You can restore files from either the "Boot-Drive" or Storage Drives.

Its just like MAC time capsule....

Ive done it many times, and works like a charm.
Just dont go back too far - or past the date and specific time it happened
because then you wont be able to go forward once you go back..
try to remember the "Date & Time" it happened
and then just go back "restoring it" just a few minutes and no more before the
disaster happened.

it should put you back on track, but if not, just keep going back in increments until it does.

Thats only if you had "System Restore" points turned on.
Usually when you install softwares, it will automatically does a Restore Point
at that time before it installs any softwares in your system.
the system does this to protect itself from disasters..
such as this one at hand...

And no it does not matter if you restarted your computer a million times.
it will still do its job.
Because the "Restore Points" made by the system is saved
in a folder along with the hidden system files.
that can not be deleted just like that.

I am sure you have restore points from the day you actually installed Windows v7 itself
into the system, because Windows automatically does a system restore point when it finishes installing Windows.
And every time you have installed a software there after.

Maybe it's just me but, I have had issue after issue with both, East West an N.I., I just don't install them any more.

My first weird thing happened to me today with 8.0.3. I have 1 audio track with no inserts, and Steven Slate Drums (using Kontakt 3.5) on an instrument track. I was playing the e-drum set through midi triggering the Slate drums when a quarter of the way through the song i get a loud "brrrrrrr" sound and the click track stops working but the song continues. I stop and playback and the click works again and then stops. I noticed in my rulers that the Bars/Beats ruler was displaying the tempo and the Tempo ruler was displaying the Bars/Beats. I clicked and dragged them around and it went back to normal and then i didnt have any problems after that but....weird.

I've heard this same "brrrrr" sound before when trying to play a VI at 64 buffer settings, i guess cause my computer couldn't handle it.

Funny thing is that PT froze again last night when running the same plugins.

This time it didn't delete my session file, but it froze windows completely and it was doing that window double thing, so i had to shut down windows.

Ey Tom, that's sad you gave up on them, get back on it dude, we need to get this sorted, Kontakt is the most popular sampler avaliable and most important because soon one day you'll want a library and you'll see that it's only powered be Kontakt which is what happened to me.
