PT HD 12.7 / Profile - Create session from VENUE fails

VENUE Profile (3.0) with 2 HDx cards, Pro Tools HD 12.7

VENUE link shows as connected fine on both VENUE and PT (using the default port 29292).
Recording channels from VENUE to PT works fine (VENUE HDx cards/ports are shown in I/O setup and working fine).

However, if we try and make a new session from VENUE, we get a pop up saying "There are currently no interfaces in I/O Setup which are known to be connected to VENUE."

Is this a known issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello MPP. My recommendation would be to stay with a PT version that is qualified for VENUE 3.0 / VENUE HDx. I haven't tested 12.7 with your specific setup but I can tell you for sure that 12.7 is not yet qualified for VENUE S6L and the VENUE Link function all system uses. I may recommend that you try versions between 12.2.2 - 12.5 as well .

Please contact support. Qualified or not, it looks like a PT issue that can be fixed.

Having the same issue. Similar setup (venue 3, PT HD 12.7). Audio routing and patching all work fine. Neither importing track names from venue nor creating a new session from venue work. Both show the same error mentioned about PT not seeing any venue hardware attached even though it actually does have connectivity.

A follow up, just to let you know: the support says it's a known bug in Pro Tools 11 and newer when used with DShow v3.x.

The suggested workaround is to use PT10 and PT12 co-install and to create the session from VENUE in PT10, then open it in PT12.

There are two issues that make the workaroud infeasible for us, unfortunately:

1. The new Pro Tools HDX 2 system for use with the existing VENUE was purchased in December 2016, so the oldest PT version that can be used with the received license is PT 12.6 (which requires a DigiLink I/O license to be able to use the DShow HDx card - that creates another issue for us).

2. The last supported system version for the PT10 and PT12 co-install is Mac OS 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion), which can't be run on the current MacPro model that has been newly purchased together with the new PT HDX 2 system in December 2016.

Ok thanks for the update. I submitted a support request as well and haven't heard anything other than engineering was looking at it. With a promise to update me with anything new but it sounds like it's a potentially longstanding issue if it's listed in PT11 bugs. I haven't ever run into this issue before and was most recently running PT12.4 with no issues. Hopefully they will actually work it out.
