Default Duplicating playlists not duplicating ARA data correctly

Consider this a PSA: This is kind of a slightly obscure, but nasty bug which has just bitten me:
If you have a stereo interleaved file in your session, and you pull in only one side to a mono track, analyze and edit with Melodyne ARA, then duplicate that playlist, the Melodyne edits will revert to their un-edited state on the new playlist!

Why would someone do this? Many of us get tracks exported by people who aren't necessarily paying attention to whether or not it's a stereo track - for example, I get dry stereo vocal tracks all the time that are really just a mono vocal on a stereo track - I then only use one side of that track in my mix session.

A workaround is to consolidate the mono track after pulling in the one side *before* doing any edits.

In touch with Avid support about it and hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Hi Rich, do you know if the support has already logged this defect or communicated it to the engineering team? If you have a bug number handy, please post it here, thanks.

.
I get stuff like this all the time. Why not just convert the stereo track to mono and dump the unneeded channel? Easy peasy…

I have reported on the CS portal and there's been a bit of dialog about it, but no official confirmation or bug number. If you want to take a look, Case number is: 04631865

thx!

If you read the original post, the workaround is to consolidate one side of the existing track. But if you don't *know* the bug exists then it's very easy to lose valuable editing time or bounce a mix out with incorrect edits. One expects to be able to duplicate playlists with confidence.
