Obviously Avid sees broadcast and post as being where most of their customers who actually have a budget for this live. I think the fact that they are no longer trying to be all things to all people is a mighty smart move.

Just found this on pricing.......

Quote:
Note $22K is for the S6 M10 8 faders setup.
From the prices announced on GS by a dealer, the S6 M10 24 faders, with producer desk and 10 Modules will be around $51K.
The S6 M40 with 32 faders, 4 displays and 17 Modules will be around $110K.
I could understand for the S6 M40 (Icon D-Control price range), I clearly don't get it for the S6 M10 (supposed to be the Icon D-Command replacement for twice the price and only 24 faders while the D-Command could get 40 faders).
I think the whole modular concept is only for Avid to give the impression to have low prices...

I don't know the price for the individual module, but you can only customize the m40. The m10 comes in a total of 6 variant.

8 faders 5 knob
8 faders 5 knob + producer's desk.
16 faders 5 knob
16 faders 5 knob + producer's desk
24 faders 5 knob
24 faders 5 knob + producer's desk

Bought new the d-command es and the 16 fader pack (for a total of 24 fader) was around 30 thousand. That's when you didn't have an exchange going on. So the prices are not that far off when you include the new features, that the d-command Didn't have. Also the information in that sub quote seems a bit off. The s6 m10 can only have 9 modules The touch screen brain and the transport section are automatically included. And at 51 k it seems it includes the leg stands which you can go without as the frame can be desk mounted.

Well, that's drawback...........

Entry level buyers are being punished. $22k for 8 faders, 5 knobs, and no meter bridge (and no option to get one). Compared with D Command which streeted for $13k with a meter bridge. Just my 2 cents.

M40 buyers are paying the same price for a comparable D Control. Good for them.

You better hope Avid is making smart moves and post houses will be purchasing many units or your stock will go down...

The S6 looks beautiful, I have looked around the avid page to find some hi-res pictures, but can really seem to find any. Does anybody know if there are some hi- res pictures available somewhere? I would love to see more pictures of the whole console and parts of it.

on the website you can click on the modules themselves to get a bigger pic, I haven't tried on the Avid webpage, but I know on sweetwater's it does it. Just checked Avid.com, go at this page and click on each module.
