Default Sync I/O - LTC Distance?

I am helping on a permanent install and I need to know how far SMPTE (LTC) can travel? What is my maximum cable length? Is it cable dependant?

Thank you.

I think SMPTE signals should behave just like any other audio signal as far as how far you can run it down a wire. (Pretty dang far.)

I would recommend that at the end of the cable run and before you use the SMPTE to drive anything that the SMPTE code should be reshaped by anything that will regen the code. Just to get those waves squared off again...

If you're trying to run the SMPTE code signal down the wire and NOT reshape it, that seems like it might be the source of a problem. You might want to check with the Post Production Pros on the DUC main index... Good luck!
