Default Duff box or motherboard?

Wonder if anyone has encountered this strange problem with the 001 or any other PCI card. Each time I try to boot with the breakout box connected to the digi001 card, the computer doesn't even do POST. It'll boot normally again only if I disconnect the box, turn off the ATX power supply and leave off for a few seconds. Using the digitest program yields a pass. (except for the first few tests involving the box, which has to be left unconnected)

System specs:
Abit BH6 Mobo
AWARD bios, BX chipset
Celeron 566
128MB PC100 SDRAM
20Gb ATA 66 HDD
Abit ATA100 IDE controller card
nVidia GeForce2 MX
Win98SE

The machine has nothing installed on it except the OS and the Digidesign supplied software.

Tried swapping slots and removing the ATA controller card (in case it was overloading the PCI power rail) and using the onboard IDE controller, still no joy. I know the compatibility doc recommends the Pentium III and makes no mention of the Celeron, but surely that can't be it!

Sounds like a power suply problem. If you have axcess to another PS then I would try to switch them for a test. The breakout box sucks a fair amount of power, I would guess, to be able to power 2 pre amps and a headphone amp. So if you had a weak PS it could be enough to draw down the system where it wont post video.

Followed your suggestion and got a 300W PS. It works! For the record my previous PS was 235W.

Thanks!
