Default Bounced files sound dulled. MAJOR PROBLEM

For my last couple of projects I've noticed that my bounced files sound dull. To much bass, and way to little high frequencies.

My normal workflow is to send everything to a master channel. This Aux ouput everything to a Volume bus for surround calibration for my studio and such. It also output it to a Bounce track. The good thing with that is that I can very easily stop my bounce, do some editing and continue with the bounce, instead of using the bounce menu in the file menu. I'm sure alot of people do the same.

So.Problem. WAAAY to much bass. WAAY to little in the high end. I also tried the bounce menu by the way. So. I did a little test. I put a EQIII on the bouncetrack. Cut of everything below 100Hz, and pulled up everything above 6kHz up by as much as 8dB. Now it kinda resembles what i allready got. Still a little dull, but better. So I thought that maybe my listening devices were off. But no. If I drag a bounce without the bounce EQ it sounds dull, if I drag a file with the bounce EQ it kinda seems right..

SO, WTF?

Anyone had this problem before? I don't know what to do, since I clearly can't trust my rig.

Obviously this is not normal and something must be set up wrong. Can you post the session file for us to check out?

Well, if my 12 years, and still going strong, of working as a sounddesigner hasn't made me a fool, I would know what the hell is going on.. It is pretty strange though --Especially since it clearly sounds different when I'm exporting it back into PT..

Is this only on PT11? Is this an offline bounce? Or is it on PT10?

When did this start?

It's PT10.3-10.3.7

And it's both BTD and RTD. Same problem..

It started pretty suddenly maybe 4-5 months ago, when one of the distributors of a series called me up and said he thought it sounded a bit dull. And I have not changed my rig before that. I have however after that reinstalled OSX, PT. But the problem persists.

Got the session. Let me run some tests ASAP. Probably in the AM.

When you were EQing the bounce to match what you heard when you were mixing, I'm assuming you changed the output to the output named 5.1, is this correct?

I took your session and replaced the missing audio with some dialog I had here and it worked fined. No difference between the bounce and live audio.

What about trying to use the test signal generator? Record a track with a 15k signal and bounce it.Import it back to the session and see if it matches. You could do a null test to see if it is exactly the same. I bet it will be.

What is your bounce source?

Use pink noise as source and an rta that you will feed from different points in the signal chain. That will give you a way to qc/reference your chain.
