I have the same problem with my m-audio Fast Track Pro. Pleas update the firmware/driver!!! The noise that i hear from my KRK speakers appears after i updated the firmware. The nois is on my laptop and computer, so I am sure that this is a driver problem.

I've got the same Probleme!
Win 8 64 bit
Six Core Am3+ CPU
8 GB RAM

Fast Track Pro isnt recognized by my PC after the last Firmware Update .
Used several different USB-Ports.-
Tried to use it with extra 12v Power supply cable,
even downgraded my current M-Audio driver. Nothing works. Always the same problem...
The yellow Triangle and the nasty windows-sound.- Showing up ~every 3 seconds.-
appears and dissapears as unkown devide in the device manger.

M-Audio Driver Control Panel:
bottom left side of the GUI:
Driver: 6.1.10
Firmware: (no display/empty space)
[Hardware not connected | no streaming]

Maybe i've got a clue: I remember disconnecting my Device to late while the firmware update was in progress! I was expecting another dialogue-box like "unplug your devide now!" but then the update already started :/
I guess i have a half installed firmware on my device

PLEASE help us, AVID-Support !!!
greetings from Germany!

I have asked for this to be looked into. But, you might want to actually contact support, these forums are user-to-user:

"Please note that the Pro Audio Community forums, are not an official support
channel for Avid. If you require direct technical assistance, you should contact Avid Customer Success who can then advise on support programs and offering available

Same problem.

I have been using my Fast Track Pro primarily as a playback audio interface since November 2008, on three successive PC computers and several windows systems. It may have started with Windows XP, can't remember at this point, definitely went through Vista 32-bit, 7 32-bit and 7 64-bit. I always output via Line 1/2.

I had no problems until I started using the third computer two weeks ago. I installed Win 7 64-bit (exactly the same as on the computer 2) and the current version of M-Audio driver (which included firmware update). Which seems to be different from the version I had previously, I can tell that the UI has changed.

I experience a variety of problems.
1. The interface will just stop playing or responding to any audio playback program (Spotify, IE/Youtube, foobar2000). A reset by going to Sound/Playback Devices and disabling "M-Audio Fast Track Pro Line 1/2" followed by re-enabling is needed.

2. In one case I tried to reset by switching the FTP off and on, this produced blue screen.

3. In one case a digital noise correlated with sound occurred while playing a YouTube video. Sort of like byte swap, or something like that.

(problems 1, 2, and 3 typically occur not during playback, but after playback was paused or stopped and then enabled again).

4. While playing some games (but not other games) the sound will either disappear all of sudden, or begin to stutter for a second or so, and then either recover or disappear. After sound has disappeared, it may re-appear after a few or a few tens of seconds, but this may depend on the particular game's ability to reset the driver.

All other drivers on the system are up to date.

None of the above has ever occurred with computers 1 and 2, which ran different systems and earlier FTP drivers.

Default Re: Fast Track Pro out of order after last driver update

I have the same problem with Fast Track Pro on my new PC. On my ~4 year old Sony Vaio Notebook, it works fine, which is strange since both computers run the same OS (Windows 7 64bit), even installed from the same DVD. The audio stops playing randomly, ranging from about 2 minutes up to 1 hour or so, sometimes accompanied by a distorted noise.

However, i found a SOLUTION to this problem that works for me. It's rather simple: Don't use the crappy drivers by Avid/M-Audio. I tried every driver version from 6.0.2 up to the newest one that updates the firmware. None of them works! Trust me, save your time.

What I did:

1. Go to the Windows Device Manager, find the Fast Track Pro device under "Audio", right-click and uninstall the drivers via the uninstall-button in the "Drivers" view.
2. Upon the next reboot, Windows 7 64bit automatically detects the device as "Fast Track Pro" (without "M-Audio") and installs some generic drivers.

The latest driver is from July 12th 2013, Version 6.1.7601.18208, provided and signed by Microsoft. You can again view this information in the Device Manager (same view as in step 1).

Now the Input/Output channels are listed under some generic name (something like "Analog Out 1" and "Analog Out 2", which correspond to "Line Out 1 & 2" and "3 & 4". You can rename them in the Audio settings and make "Out 1 & 2" the default playback device again.

If you just use your device to play audio, that's it. However, if you want to use it for recording, there's still another problem to solve.

3. Unlike in the M-Audio Control Panel, you can't adjust the buffer size and get the generic Windows ASIO driver down to a reasonable latency (the best I could achieve was 40ms, which is of course too much). To solve this, I installed the latest "asio4all" driver (http://www.asio4all.com/ just a single .exe file to install), which offers the ASIO4ALL driver and comes with a Control Panel that lets you adjust the buffer size again.

I made a screenshot that shows my settings: http://i41.tinypic.com/2mgtbtc.jpg

On my machine (Intel Core i5, 8 gigs of RAM) I can set the buffer size to about 192 (= 9ms) with no glitches at all. For recording, I switch to 128 (= 7ms) which is totally fine for me. Lower values result in noticeable glitches during playback (especially in a project with a few "heavy" VST instruments) but this was also the case with the original drivers.

Until Avid or whoever comes up with a driver fix, this is an acceptable solution for me and I hope that I could help a little.

There's seriously still no solution to this? It happened to me last night and has me so frustrated because i just set up a new laptop to record on. This needs to be solved.
