(SOLVED)No MIDI input activity and no sound from VIs - but PT actually records MIDI!?

This is really strange - probably a bug?

It appears that Pro Tools does not receive any signals from my MIDI Controllers. When I enable record on the MIDI track, there is no activity on the input meters when I play my keyboard. If I route the MIDI track to a VI (tried several; omnisphere, kontakt ++), there is no sound.

BUT! When I start to record, Pro Tools records every key I press on the keyboard, but there are no sound from the VI and no activity on the input meter. And probably even more strange: When I playback the MIDI track, the VI plays just fine!

It is not acceptable to be unable to hear what I play until after I have recorded a take, so I have to figure this one out!

Has anyone else experienced this? I have not had this problem before. I am on 10.2 (+CPT2) on Snow Leopard.

Just wanted to add that there is a small sign of midi activity: When I enable record on the track, a tiny green bar (say 2%) appears for a few ms before the track monitor dies completey.

Check that options>MIDI thru is ticked (ie switched on).

I haven´t used PT for midi before, so I understand now that there are a few things to read up on :)
