Default HDX on early 2008 Mac Pro 8 Core.... no go ? :-(

If I read the specs correctly HDX will not work on a early 2008 Mac pro?

can anyone enlighten me?

curious why it would not work?

The short answer likely has to do with the memory controller more than the processor itself. That generation of controller would not be up to current "new" tech especially as regards increasing 64bit hardware and software.

Something to do with those machines crippling the cards whilst doing firmware updates. Apparently this was the case with the HD Native cards and Harpertown too?? Is this right?

It would be nice if Avid replied.
At first I was happy to see my machine was supported. Only to find out this was the PT10 compatibility chart. I figured this would also go for HDX cards.....
So please let us be wrong

Max has clearly stated that 1.1-3.1 machines will kill HDX cards firmware
both in the AES webcast and here in other posts

HD native card works on Hapertown.
I have an 8core early 2008 and have been using the HD native card for almost a year with no issues.
