Help with simple midi controls?

I just bought an axiom keyboard controller. I have a live gig in a few days, and basically all I need to do is switch between different patches, and I'll like to be able to do that on the keyboard as opposed to the computer.

one part of the song is a patch on native instruments express (pro 53)

the next part should have that as well as an arpeggio from reason. (same keys will play both) I tried programming it so that zone 1 was channel 1 and zone 2 was channel 2, but whenever I press any of the zone keys it changes the preset on the pro53. what am I doing wrong?

any tips on the best way to do this?
