Default Self noise of the Eleven Rack

Hi guys,

I was trying to record foley (footsteps, movement of clothes etc.) and got lots of noise. I am not very experienced so sorry if I am missing something very obvious.

I tried the t.bone SC 400 (large diaphragm condenser, very cheap at around 60 bucks) and an AKG D5s.
I know that these mics aren't great and pretty cheap.
The signal goes into my Eleven Rack.

Would you consider buying a better mic (if so, which one could you recommend for low level recording?) or a better preamp?
