Default Massive -9019 errors!

I upgraded from a G3 to a G4 about a month ago, for my protolls Mix system.

I had very few problems before. Now I am having CONSTANT disk-too-slow errors. Several numbers pop up, by -9019 seems the most common.

I am crashing about once every 15 minutes.
Oddly, I transferred some sessions to my start-drive, just to do some editing. The problem did not change, exactly the same.
I can't find any help on the Digi site, nor in a DUC search.

Any ideas at all?

Default Re: Massive -9019 errors!

I've been getting -9019 fragmented errors in certain points in my sessions. (Machine locks up, usually hand comes up, in the same spot +/- 5 frames)

I've tracked the problem down to corrupted automation data in stereo tracks. (I don't have any plug-ins) When I delete all pan automation (including position, divergence and centre %) and re-do any volume automation that is there (about 2 seconds after the point at which it crashed) the problem goes away. I've also noticed that some automation dots look like they're a bit "fat" - like two are stuck very closely side-by-side.

Oh also the problem seems to come up in the first place when clips are moved from track to track with the grabber.

Hope this helps,

Mark

Default Re: Massive -9019 errors!

Here are a couple of suggestions:

-Check the integrity of your drives with Disk Warrior or any other such utility. Repair any and all corrupted catalogs and/or BTree Directories

-Increase the Preferred Memory sizes of DAE and Pro Tools. Values of 90MB and 80MB respectively should suffice. Be sure that the Minimum memory sizes stay at their default settings.

-Rebuild the Desktop files for all drives.

-Trash the DigiSetup File, Pro Tools preference, and DAE prefs (the entire folder) from the System Folder>Preferences folder. Empty the Trash and restart the Mac.

-In Pro Tools, open the Setups>Preferences>Operations window and limit the “Open Ended Record Allocation” to 10-30mins.
