PT11HD Recording Delay-What's Normal?

Hey all. Running 11.3.1 in Windows 8.1 with an Omni. Setting up for my first ADR session with the BM Studio 4k card and ran some tests. Using a template project that shows 0 delay in the Compensation windows, recording a click directly through a bus with ADC on nets a 120 sample delay. Recording it through a mic nets a 340 sample delay. Both are substantially higher with ADC off, and checking or un-checking the Compensate options in the I/O section has no influence.

This seems like an inordinate amount of recording delay for this system, doesn't it? Are there some mysterious settings I'm missing that can improve this?

No choice if I want to be able to slate the takes. But you're right that I should also check the direct input to see how much latency is internal versus hardware. More testing...

Haven't measured an Omni, but most interfaces are gonna have on the order of 90 samples of throughput delay regardless of the DAW. Add your buffer settings to that if it's a native rig and you'll probably be looking at 200-ish samples minimum throughput if it's at 64 samples (2msec at 96k). Not sure why ADC off would add latency? I just did a session on an HDN rig - not the norm for me - but it behaved quite well; had some of the record mics bused internally and no extra latency there, and a handful of native plugs; whole thing was at 96k, buffers at 64samples - I don't think you'd want to go above this for buffer settings wrt latency though... I clocked the whole thing at 215 samples latency = 2.2msec; I'd say that's just below the point where it starts to become disturbing.
