Default Need Help- Mute Automation Question

Question: Is there a way to drop a mute into absolute(Write) without changing the state of the mute?

The track is unmuted, and there is a mute coming up in the automation, but I want to drop the mute into Absolute(Write) before the mute comes up so it stays open instead of muting.

(On an analogue console it would be match mute absolute).

I am using an Avid S6 with Pro tools ultimate 2020. All recent software updates on all platforms are up to date.

2 ideas:
1-delete any/all Mute automation on the track.
2-turn automation off on that track(handy if you have automation you want, but you want to suspend it for now)

1. Thats not the point, the automation is correct on that track up to a point. I just want to punch overwrite a mute when mixing.

2. Nope, then the mix is not playing back correctly.

Default Need Help- Mute Automation Question

Dropping into write mode would keep the mute in whatever state it’s in. Just be sure that muting is the only automatable parameter enabled for writing.

Just trying to give you options. For MUTE automation, to me, its just easier to show the automation lane and use the mouse to make changes

Yeah, this is a workaround. The only problem is that you have to do the extra step of making sure all other automation is not enabled to write.

Yeah I hear ya, thank you. It defeats the object when you have an S6 with lots of faders and want to do it quickly on the surface without hunting for the automation lane on the screen.

cheers.
