Default how to slip audio inside a region??

Here is an ancient question that has been on my mind with regard to protools for 6 years. The solution/command is probably quite simple.

Say you have a trimmed region of audio in a given session. Now just imagine I want this region to be fixed and not to move positionally. However, I want to grab the audio inside the region (i.e. waveform) with my grabber and slide it forward, or back. The region does not move, but the audio inside it does (thus effectively trimming from the source audio). Pretty straightforward. How does one do this kind of command??

thanks

I know!I know!I know!I know!I know!

Highlight the region, then Control + "+" or "-" nudges the audio within the region forward or back according to the Nudge value

Me too...me too....I have another!!!
ctrl/opt/+ or - changes the nudge value. So you can move it, then lower the nudge value to do fine adjustments!!!!

I use the above daily.

Y'know, I always see you guys up on the boards helping poor, hapless souls like me, and I want to thank you for it.

By the way, I can't quite decipher DIAFXMX's nudge value shortcut. When I try it, it changes the grid value, not the nudge value. Also a footnote, the macros only work -/+ with the numeric keypad, not the alpha area.

Sorry I do these without thinking, so I have to go back to see its

option/Apple with the + or - to change nudge value.
option + or - opens the front of the region by the amount and
apple + or - opens the back of the region by the amount
ctl/option moves the region internally only if there are handles available.

Yes the numeric pad is required.

Old thread I know, but is it truly not possible to achieve this without a numeric keypad? I do a ton of editing on my laptop, and really hate that I can't achieve this function with just the laptop. I even bought a Bluetooth keypad, but that doesn't work either.

yeah sorry you need a full external keyboard with both the main qwerty board and numeric on the same device. It won't combine the modifier key from the laptop keyboard with the number from an external keypad. Been there with trying to do hotel room work on my laptop.

Thanks for the reply. Ugh...I wish there were a workaround. I can't really mix on the road, or record, but I do a ton of editing. I hate the loss of that move though...one of my most often used edits.....
