I realise this is NO help but I'm having no problems starting up and shutting down 12.5. In fact, 12.5 is shutting down really quickly here.

Why are so many people have things such different experiences of 12.4 and 12.5?

Personally, I think there is a lot to be said for having an Avid qualified Mac and using Avid hardware. It takes a lot of the variables out of the equation. There's only one company to blame then!

That said, I'm using Avid only hardware and still having issues.

I use Avid hardware, and have always built my PC's to Digi specs, and yet 12.4 and 12.5 still giving me probs. The screens just go pale white, with a nice note, "Pro Tools not responding"!!??? Come on guys,, you can do better than this! Just spent 30 days with Studio One 3.2,, even forgot to save to my audio drive (so using my 'c' drive), and not one problem! Fast,, not even a hick-up. (Still messing with 12.5, might be a little better than 12.4? Not sure yet, still crashing) Mike

Thats interesting, I used to have that exact problem up to 12.4, installed 12.5 yesterday and that bug finally seems to be gone.
Only thing that still crashes Pro Tools everytime is saving while the session is running, but only when an A.I.R. Instrument is open, like Structure, Hybrid, Loom etc.

And I just had a crash within 10 minutes, no better than 12.4 at all. Only had one VI open ( Ivory 2 ). I really don't want to have to pay for a 2nd DAW, but what are we to do? Pro Tools has become almost totally useless at this point! (Unless you want to restart every 10-30 minutes??) "JavaScript Alert....avid.com....login failed, status code 504... avid upstream/BUS.QUERY_TIMEOUT...??!! Never seen this one before? Any thoughts?
Thanks , Mike

Same problem here with Sonnox Oxford EQ. I've opened a ticket last week with both Avid and Sonnox and they are both still looking into it. Very consistent. Any time I try to either close the session or simply remote the Oxford EQ plug, PT quits unexpectedly.

Installed 12.5 last week, loads of crashes, took the plunge and installed El Capitan, couldn't get 12.5 to open at all. Deleted prefs, re installed, etc, still no joy.

I decided I would go back to 12.4 as I have work to do and I don't really have time to be a free beta tester. However Avid must have so much confidence in 12.5 that they have removed 12.4 from my account. I had to re install it from time machine!!!

I've taken all Sonnox products out of my plug-in folder and rescanned it. Still got a couple of crashes yesterday.
