Default PT le8 through avid voc studio?

Hello, My first post....

I am running PT LE 8 w/mbox 2 / win XP on a desktop.

I recently saw the "Pro Tools Make music now" and an "Avid vocal studio" interfaces and was thinking about grabbing one for my laptop to record vocals, acoustics and not be tied to the desktop.

Could you tell me if I would be able to use my PT LE8 software with these interfaces or would I be limited to the SE versions that come boxed with the interfaces?

Also, if I cannot use LE8 with the interfaces, would I be able to save the sessions and import them to use with my mbox2 gear?

Thank you,

Sometimes we put too much effort into a thought and miss the bigger picture.
If you already own PT8 you shouldn't be considering them on any level.

Get PT9 or if you want to just mix on the laptop and go cheap find a Micro.
They are typically found for $65-100.

Yes it works with PT8LE, but bare in mind the Micro is for mixing and editing in PT only. It has no I/O's (apart from a headphone jack).

Thank you,
Not sure if a session file saved in PTSE can be opened in PTLE. You could import audio created and saved within a PTSE session into a PTLE and save that as a PTLE session file, but as SKI basically said, why would you want to.

You need to be "Tied" to the place where you have your best recording equipment/environment, In your case the Mbox.

If you are wanting to be portable you are better off having a laptop/software thats compatible with the Mbox rather than having a secondary dumbed down recording setup. Remember this, your system is only as good as it's weakest link.

IMHO you'd be better off to put any money you're wanting to spend toward a decent Microphone to use with your Mbox.

What's funny is to remember the original mBox was our portable solution when it was first released.
And it was compared to the the other LE interfaces.

i really wanted to be able to take the laptop into different rooms/places to get basic grooves, strums, claps, and starter vocal ideas. my main system is running win xp and PT9 only runs on later systems, plus my laptop does not have as much ram/power as my desktop.
