Default powerbook & 002r storage question

just picked up a 867 15" powerbook and want some advice on external HDs. how well does protools run when the 002r is chained with a harddrive?(there is only 1 firewire port) has anyone had good results from harddrives on USB2? what do the peoples of the DUC recommend?

good experiences.

connect firewire hard drive as a first device (straight to the powerbook's firewire port) and connect 002r to the hard drive's second firewire port as a last device in firewire chain. it will work the other way also, but it's safer to put hd first. if you turn off your 002r, then the hard drive will power off too.

anyway.. i have a 667mhz powerbook, a 160gb lacie hd, and a 002r. works every time.

I've had darn-near-equal performance with USB 2.0 and FireWire400 working with my new 1.25 Powerbook.

I can't tell what is worse: Having the 002R and Hard disk daisy-chained on the same bus, or using USB 2.0.

I've decided that I'm going to return my USB2/FW400 Drive to CompUSA that I paid too much for, eat the 15% restocking fee , and get myself a FireWire800/400/USB2 Drive. That way, I'll know that I'll be getting the best performance possible.

Cheers,
Scott
